BEAM

  SCALE

This skill is often used on the Balance Beam to show precise body control.  It is performed by leaning slightly forward, and holding one leg as high as possible upward and backward.  The arms should be to the sides or backward, and the legs should be straight.  Many modifications exist on this skill, so much so that the term “scale” has come to mean “any balanced position on one leg, where the other leg is held higher than the hip.”
