This
skill is often used on the Balance Beam to show precise body
control. It is
performed by leaning slightly forward, and holding one leg as
high as possible upward and backward.
The arms should be to the sides or backward, and the legs
should be straight. Many modifications exist on this skill, so much so that the
term “scale” has come to mean “any balanced position on
one leg, where the other leg is held higher than the hip.”
