 Back Extension Roll

To perform this skill, the body must move very quickly, in the same manner as a Backward Roll.  Instead of bending the elbows, keep the arms straight, with the hands turned in, fingers pointing toward each other.  Roll quickly, and direct the feet upward, rather than backward.  The body “explodes” to a Handstand, moving very quickly from a Tuck to a straight position.  From the Handstand, the gymnast can do a variety of skills.  Shown here, the common landing in a Lunge position.
