STARS Independence Cup June 13, 2004
The Inependence Day Cup of 2004 saw some intense
competition. At the start of the meet, both teams were
warned by Brian: “This meet is going to come down to Balance
Beam.”
With that in mind, Aurora and Andromeda set to work, Aurora
on Vault, and Andromeda on the Floor. With higher tumbling
and better dance, Andromeda pulled out to a quick lead.
Aurora stayed tough, turning in solid performances on Vault
and Floor.

Andromeda then moved to Beam, and Aurora to Bars.
Aurora, with only one Level 5 bar routine from Ann Marie,
remained calm, despite tough scores. They watched across the
gym, as Andromeda struggled on the beam. With 5 gymnasts
performing the more difficult routines, Andromeda had the
potential for 5 very high scores. In the end, however, the
cartwheels in the routines were too much obstacle to overcome,
and Andromeda had to include several low scores in their total.
Aurora had only one fall on their entire team on the Beam, and
as predicted, the meet did in fact revolve around the Balance
Beam. Aurora countered a lesser level of difficulty with a high
level of precision, and were victorious for the first time in
the season.
Congratulations to both teams on a great season. Keep working so
that next year, we take the All Stars teams to even higher
levels!
