Gymrev Competes at I LOVE NY CUP February 4 & 5, 2005. Binghamton, NY

The level 7 gymnasts from Gymnastics Revolution stepped onto the competitive floor at the Broome County Veteranís Memorial Arena on Friday, February 4th.  They knew that in order to be competitive, they would have to be fantastic.  This would be their most challenging meet of the season, meeting teams from Lehigh Valley Sports Academy, Brestyanís, and Southern Tier Gymnastics Academy.

Inexperience did not prove to be a detriment, though, as the girls started out strong on the Floor Exercise.  This would prove to be a meet full of success for the teamís quieter members.  Taylor, a younger member of the Gym Rev team, started out the night with a 9.125.  Her teammates followed, scoring several other 9.0ís or better, highlighted by Kimís 9.175.

On the Vault, Meagan started off the team with a top score of 9.35.  Many other Gym Rev girls medaled, including Destiny, who had the top score of the 7-10 age group.

Moving to the bars, there were several factors at play.  Lizzie had yet to score below a 9.0 in the meet.  Kim was unveiling her new giant, and the girls were challenged by their coach to hit all 9 routines.  Although they came up with 7 out of 9 ďhitĒ routines, they had several major successes:  Lizzie continued her run of 9.0ís, and Kim hit her new skills easily, and Alanna and Allie both scored well with very clean routines.

With only the beam to go, the Gym Rev girls were looking good.  Although there were some better gyms in the competition, Gymnastics Revolutionís Level 7ís were right in the mix.  They stepped onto the beam with confidence, and came out with high scores of 8.85 (Katie) 9.0 (Lizzie) and 9.2 (Allie).

The Team ended up solidly in third place, beaten out only by Lehigh Valley and STGA.  With room still for improvement, and a tremendous desire for more success, the girls from Gym Rev are striding confidently toward the State Championships in April!
