GymRev Compulsory Team Competes At
The Rhode Island Invitational December 2-4, 2005.
The Gymnastics Revolution teams
train hard, but at this point in the season, nobody is
training harder than the compulsory girls. Only a week
before their State Championship in New Haven, the girls
came together in Kingston, Rhode Island for a wildly
successful meet at the Rhode Island Invitational.
The Level 6’s
were led by the incredible performances of Lucy and
Sam. Working as a team, these 12 girls relied on one
another to keep themselves focused and motivated
throughout the event. In the end, accepting the third
place trophy, the Level 6’s are poised to move into
their State Championship meet. They will be strong,
relying on Cortney’s beam routine, Sam’s bars, Lucy’s
vault, and Hanna and Brittany’s floor routines. Stay
tuned to see their successes!

The
Level 5’s, competing first thing on Saturday morning, were
absolutely dominant in the individual competitions. Lauren took
home the gold medal, scoring a 36.575 in the All Around. But
her older teammates Samantha and Mary, provided the one-two
punch of excitement that ultimately led the team to it’s high
total. Rounded out by Brooklyn and Kate, the Level 5 team won 3
All Around titles, and 2 second places as well. Special mention
goes to Samantha, whose 37.025 was the highest score of any
compulsory gymnast in the competition! The Level 5’s took 2nd
place as a team, just a hair behind Brestyan’s American
Gymnastics.
But of
the three separate teams, the Level 4’s had to have been the
strongest. With a gymnast placing first, second, third, fourth,
and sixth in the All Around, it was no surprise when the Level
4’s took home the team title. With 14 scores over a 9.0, the
Level 4’s were incredible! They ended up a full point higher
than the next closest team, and plan to keep up their winning
ways!
Now
moving into the end of the season, the compulsory girls are
gearing up for a grand finale at the Connecticut State
Championships on December 10 and 11 at Southern Connecticut
State University. Good luck, girls! |
